Andrew is we *think* going for a new world record for the cutest little porker on the planet.
He is eating a full pot of food AND 7oz of milk now for his dinner and tea and breakfasts the same but banana porrige not food!
We reckon if he carries on he will either A) Win the title (subject to correct Guinnis book rules being kept) OR B) Perform a Mr Creosote medely!
We bought him an Activity Centre to strengthen his legs and to burn off some of the calories too and he LOVES it!
Will add some more photos soon (soon as he sits still long enough to get some).
He is going to be weighed on Monday and we reckon he will defo be in the heavyweight class now.
We got an hour off today too… grandma had our little sweetheart (lol) while we went and got lunch at the local… daddy even had a pint!
It was tempting to go AWOL for a couple of days and clear out the top shelf of all the pubs somewhere BUT… parenting comes first… hmmm
Ok gotta fly… always stuff to do… bottles, food, nappies, sleep(not us), sick, so catcha again soon!

Starting last Wednesday we thought as Andrew wasn’t sleeping very well we’d try a new routine, thanks to the Gina Ford New contentented little baby book.
Basically it has set routines as to when your baby is to sleep, eat, wake, bath and it even tells you in the early stages as new borns when you (the parent) are to eat. I first picked it up when i was about 6 months pregnant, it completly freaked me out, thinking that this is what life was going to be like from now on, planned, fixed and never, ever having a moment to yourself unless Gina said so.
Anyway i put it down vowing never to go there again, but desperate times call for desperate measures and all that, so on the advice of Martin (AKA ‘the oracle’) the guy that works with Steven we thought we’d give it a go, as what had we to lose.
He said it was really strict and had been too strict for him and Mrs Oracle but one of their friends had tried it and within 6 weeks their child was sleeping through the night and it was more or less a miracle book.
Hmmm…Basically the routine goes like this for 4-6 month old babies…
7:00AM Milk
9:00AM Sleep (up to 45 minutes)
10:00AM Should be fully awake on mat with toys
11:00AM Milk & Solids (as were starting to wean him now)
11:50AM-12:00PM Sleep (up to 2 hours 15 minutes)
2:00PM - 2:15PM Awake + Milk & Solids no later than 3:15PM
4:15PM Cooled boiled water or juice + short nap if didn’t sleep well earlier
5:00PM Small feed if hungry + get bath ready for 5:30PM
5:30PM Bath + Massage
6:00PM - 6:15PM Milk & Solids
7:00PM Bedtime
10:25PM Awake slowly and not too much for example with dim light
10:30PM Milk feed but not to finish any later than 11:00PM
All pretty straight forward and it seemed to make perfect sense waking him up for a feed at a time when he’d probably be hungry, as his last feed was 4 and a half hours earlier, looking good.
Previously he’d been waking us up at anywhere between 11pm and 1.30, then again between 3 and 5.30am. At least this way he would go back to sleep have the majority of the sleep between 11 and 6am and it would be much more sociable for us.
Well ‘no’ in a word, it was great at first, he was woken as planned at 10.30, had his feed and went back to sleep… for about 10 minutes and that was pretty much it for the night he screamed, kicked, yelled, screamed some more and again mummy got no sleep, oh yeah and I forgot to mention daddy got some kind of nasty bug so couldn’t help, not his fault i know but he did try to blame my cooking, saying that i’d given him food poisoning but we found out later it had been passsed on from a friends kid. typical bloke may i add you know the ‘man flu’ epademic that men get, well he thought he had ebola…
(for full details go http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ebola)
talk about exaggerate, blimey.
Anyway the, ahem ‘routine’ has been scrapped as last night was equally as painful, I even resorted to bringing Andrew into our bed to get a bit of sleep at around 4.30 and funnily he slept, not tonight though, its back to mummys routine, maybe he’s just not ready to sleep through yet, big sighs. I have started to wean him off his dummy though, only giving it to him when he reallly needs it and trying to take it off him before he falls asleep if he needs it to settle, doing good on that score though, he’s only needed it to calm down once today and I think that was just because he was hungry and tired at the same time.
Also can I just add, I really don’t understand why anyone would want more children ,I mean he’s not really a bad child but when you hear parents say, ‘they’re hard word’ you don’t quite understand the concept before you have one of you own.
Also those women that say ‘I loved being pregnant’ I mean really, sicknesss, headaches (and no drugs), blood being taken or trying to be taken when you’ve got veins that seem as thin as hairs by the student nurses, not being able to do anything ie lifting things, hoovering the upstairs becomes somewhat of a two man job, getting to a point where you can’t reach over to put your own socks on, never mind not being able to shave, the comments… my favourite being ‘god shes huge’ yes i am pregnant not just fat, the food and drink police being on your case, the birth , oh the joys and oh course the constant worries of are they ok etc, etc.
Anyway we’ve just put him to bed (6pm) and he went down without his dummy, fingers crossed if he wakes in the night its just a case of going in and letting him know that we’re still here and he’s ok to go back to sleep, but i’ll won’t hold my breath.
Anyways I’m off now to do his bottles, then bed for me ‘cos I’m knackered.
Goodnight world
Flop x

So, the health visitor came round on the 21st August and after listening to my ‘the child won’t sleep’ speech, she’s given us the go ahead to start weaning Andrew, yay
Now, we tried the baby rice again and I think thats a definte no go and personally I agree with Andrew, the stuff is bloomin’ awful but thankfully he loves rusk, so for the time being he’s on rusk for breakfast and starting this week he’s getting into mummys home made carrot, parsnip and sweet potato for lunch (recipes out of the Annabelle Karmel cook book I picked up a few weeks ago.)
I know its only food but I get really excited to see him try new things, I’ve made butternut squash puree and some apple, pear and cinnamon and as they keep in the freezer for 6-8 weeks i’ll be trying those in the next couple of weeks.
The only thing is finding the time to make things fresh as his attention span for anything is less than 10 minutes, ever tried peeling, chopping, cooking, pureeing and sticking the stuff into ice cube trays in that time, it doesn’t really add up but Im having a good go at it anyway.
Anyway I’m pretty sure this isn’t as exciting to read as I’m finding it but hey its an update all the same.
Oh and he’s just over 4 months now but we’ve had to put him in 6-9 month grows and vest as the 3-6 ones were starting to pull at his toes, see what an exciting life we have, it is an excuse for more cute clothes though
thanks to Stevens mum for all the clothes and stuff she gets for us, we love it. Thanks mum X
Thats all I’m afraid catcha all soon X

Last night daddy looked after Andrew whilst I thought I’d get some much needed sleep, sniggering smugley under my hand that he would experience a night from hell that I had been having for the last 3 months.
Now I say ‘TYPICAL’ because guess who decided to do his first nights sleep without waking up for a single feed, yes you guessed it, our son, perfectly timed as always, only poor daddy is feeling tired today because he was up at 6am, no comment.
I on the other hand had a lie in ’til 8am, thats almost 10 hours sleep, I’ve not slept like that since before I was pregnant… oh the old days, I remember I used to think a lie in meant waking up after noon and now I’m more than chuffed at an 8am start.
Andrews 15 weeks old today, its like we’ve never been without him…and I know its a little early but we tried him on a bit of rusk at lunch and I think he quite enjoyed it, we’ll have him on pizza and kebabs by the time he’s one. I’m kind of looking forward to trying him on new foods, apparently beetroot is one that should have a nappy warning on it, for the colour aspect.
I bought a book on making your own baby purees earlier in the week and I cant wait to try some of the recipes out, were going to be really good as far as food is concerned and until he’s old enough to ask for all the bad stuff like chocolate he’s not going to even know it exists. Now if only could forget it was out there we’d be onto a winner.
Oh and I promise we’ll get some up to date pics up here soon.
I hope everyones doing ok, those of you weve not been to see for a while but I guess you’ll understand, kids do distract you a little from any kind of social life.
Bye for now from our ever changing, manic, sleep deprived but very, very happy home X

Well we thought Andrew was doing really well with his sleep and now…he goes down at 7 wakes at about 12 for a feed then again at 3 then well lets just say mummy doesn’t get much sleep after that, it must be at best every half hour he wakes and at worst i don’t even get back to bed before he screams for his dummy, we think he’s teething too, I’m knackered not much else to say really but yay we’ve gotta start weaning him soon, that should make nappies more hmmm… interesting, who’s betting daddy stops doing the occasional nappy when that slice of fun starts, no bets needed thanks folks I can more or less guarentee the odds.
Quick update over sorry, no time for more at present as the child needs attention, now wheres that bonjela ????? oh how my priorities have changed.
Be back soon x
